Roni's Story

Dear Friend,

As you may know, we had the Israeli rowing team in Boston participating in the Head of the Charles 2014.  See the website we created and the article published in the Boston Globe .

Roni Vorvoreanu is a 17 year old senior high school student from Rosh Ha'Ayin, Israel who was part of the team and did very well in the Head of the Charles arriving 8th place out of 33.  She probably would have been 2nd or third if one of the rowers did not yield, against regulations, when she tried to pass her and caused her to collide and lose time.  Nevertheless, she was already recognized by top rowing coaches who approached her to talk about their school rowing program.

Roni is top of her class and is very dedicated to the sport.  She takes her bicycle every day to the train, then heads to the bus to go one and a half  hours to each training. She is training to compete for the 2015 Rio de Janeiro Junior Championships and Tokyo 2020. We started a campaign to buy the Resolute Racing Shell she used at the Head of the Charles race and ship it to Israel for her to train with.

Her boat is old and forty pounds heavier than what she needs. Giving her the Resolute boat used in the Head of the Charles event will help her in training, and to qualify in the Junior Championships in Rio and Tokyo. We estimate the cost of the boat to be  $12,000.  We have a donor who will give $6000 toward the project and I estimate the total project with equipment will run around $16,000, with oars and other equipment including packaging and shipping.

1.  For $10,000 the boat can be named by the donor.  The name will be on the bow of the boat.

2.  For $3,000, they will have their logo on the boat on one side.

3.  For $4,000, they will have their logo on both sides.

Please help us to assist Roni in her dream to represent Israel in the Junior Championships 2014 and perhaps Tokyo 2020.  I personally thank you for any contribution you can give.  Please go to the donation page
