On February 16th, 2021, the students involved with the RI Latino Biz Web Design Project virtually came together to hear from the project organizers and some distinguished guests. The session began with a special message from Ambassador Meron Reuben, the Consulate General of Israel to New England. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, the Consulate is one of the main supporters of this project and several of the Rhode Island-Israel Collaborative’s (RIIC) other projects and initiatives. This session covered an overview of the timeline of the project, in addition to having Yoav Cohen of Wix—the students are developing their websites on Wix—speak. Yoav discussed how to make the websites engaging for both desktop and mobile sites, gave an introduction to the tools, noted the importance of figuring out what is the end goal of the website and who has similar websites, the correct promotions for the website and emphasized that these websites should showcase the spirit of collaboration.
