Dear friends and donors

The Israeli rowing team arrived three days ago and has been practicing and participating in some of the non - rowing events. In the next two days, they will be involved in rowing, engagements with the community, representing the Israeli rowing community and interviewing with local media, as well.

A very moving moment was when for the first time the rowers were practicing at the Charles River. Please see photos. I wish you could have been with us and seen their eyes tearing up with gratitude for all that was done on their behalf. Myself and others, who were helping to organize the team, were tearing up as well. All of this could have not been done without you, the donors, who donated money, time, services and support.

To all of you, I would like to say thank you on behalf of the organizing committee. A special thank you to Misha Joukowsky and the Resolute team for providing the equipment, logistics, funds and unparalleled support.

A good example is the racing shell that was prepared for Irina, the 18 year high school senior rower on the team. The boat was perfectly outfitted for her. The oars were painted blue and white, and the Israeli flag was attached to the boat. More than that, when Irina went for her first practice she and her coach were shocked to find that the information they sent regarding the setting was perfectly executed so no adjustments were needed. As they told me, this has never happened to them in the past. Irina also said that in Israel she uses a boat that is much heavier than is fitting for her weight. Budget constraints would not allow her to row in a better boat. As she came out of her first practice, she said, and I quote "this is the best boat I have ever practiced in".

Moran Samuel also had the chance to row at practice with a special boat that was prepared for her by CRI. She had a wonderful experience meeting other rowers. Daniel Rutenberg has been rowing every day. Even yesterday when it was pouring rain in Boston, he went to the docks and rowed.

Again, I am speechless, so humbled and thankful that so many people like you have helped us to take a dream and make it reality. All of the rowers have expressed that they would love to meet each one of you personally, and have stated that if you visit Israel, they would love to show you their rowing clubs and their activities.

Thank you again and Shabbat Shalom,

Avi Nevel
